The OnePlus NORD is an Android based smartphone 2021 manufactured by OnePlus, launched on 21 July 2021. It’s the second smartphone in the popular Nord series. It’s the second mid-budget smartphone from OnePlus as the previous year’s OnePlus X. It’s available in several countries, including Europe, India, Hong Kong and Malaysia. All of these regions have access to the same user interface, though some have different features.

What makes the OnePlus NORD different from other budget phones is that it has an interface based on Android 7.0. Oxygen OS is what powers Android, after all, so is having a phone that runs on an older version would be a major disadvantage. Fortunately, Oxygen OS can easily be upgraded. As a result, any bumps or stutters experienced in the old version of Android will be present in the new one, too. This gives the device an extended lifespan.

One of the biggest differences between this smartphone and its predecessors is the display size. The 6.2-inch Super AMOLED screen offers clearer text and images. It’s also easier to read because the color scale of the display is more pronounced, resulting in more precise colors. For those who are used to larger smartphones with bigger displays, the 6.2-inch size may prove to be a disappointment. The lack of a camera means that the real estate of the back bar is limited.

The OnePlus NORD has a front-mounted fingerprint scanner, just like the iPhone 7 Plus. Unlike the iPhone, however, it doesn’t offer a dedicated camera button. Instead, you can press the power key to launch the camera or the volume rocker to focus the camera on the display. Apart from that, the phone also sports a single ear speaker, just like the iPhone. You can also upgrade to a USB Type-C port instead of the headphone jack, if you prefer.

The OnePlus NORD comes with two colors of sensors, the iPhone-like proximity sensor and a dual-core A9 processor. While the former can automatically lock the focus, shoot and record modes while the latter works independently for video and picture editing apps. Despite the presence of both, only the proximity sensor is designed specifically for use with smartphone applications. For those who prefer professional photography features, the dual-core processor should suffice.

The main camera of the OnePlus NORD is an entry-level unit that only offers two cameras. In the next paragraph, we’ll take a closer look at the front and back cameras. The front camera of the smartphone boasts of a pixel resolution of 13 megapixels, slightly lower than the iPhone 7 Plus’ front camera. For high-quality images, you’ll need the OnePlus NORD’s rear camera.

The OnePlus NORD has the same kind of facial recognition software as the iPhone 7 Plus. The facial recognition works extremely well and ensures that your pictures are captured with as much natural color as possible. In the center of the rear camera, there’s a dedicated button meant for switching to the mode for editing. The best part about this camera is its size. At just over 8.5 inches long, the OnePlus NORD easily fits in your pocket and is available at a cost that most smartphone users can’t ignore.

The battery of the OnePlus NORD is not very long but contains all the features that you might need. This is one advantage of a smartphone like the iPhone, where you can enjoy music while taking a phone call without having to pause music during a phone call. The phone also features a built-in accelerometer. An additional benefit of the OnePlus NORD is its unique price, which is quite affordable even for a smartphone novice. The good thing about it is that you don’t have to spend thousands on a high-end smartphone just to get all the benefits that the iPhone offers.
