As important as any other strategy or methodology when it comes to transforming and carrying out processes in a company, an Agile coaching professional works as a companion or an agent of change so that companies that are in a process of change have the option of supporting each other. in these agents and things turn out as planned.

Companies are constantly undergoing changes to keep up to date in various aspects in which they are involved, and any change will require prior analysis and solid communication and reaction structure. This last part is where the Agile coach is involved, this role can be performed by an external agent or there may be a person in the organization in charge of it.

Duties of an Agile Coach

An Agile Coach must have two well-developed functions:

1. On the part of the “Coach”, must be someone with a broad and focused vision when it comes to accompanying, observing, and facilitating change at the organizational level, which means that they must study and know the business very well, its language and its business structure, as well as understanding each of its processes and the reason for its possible shortcomings.

2. And on the side of “Agile”, which precisely refers to having an agile part and having knowledge of this methodology, allowing it to be flexible and insightful when proposing strategies and steps during the entity’s change process.

A professional and experienced Agile coach will combine these 2 functions 50/50, acting as an integrator and manager of the change made by the organization, thus accompanying them throughout the process, observing, analyzing, facilitating, and recommending actions.

Risks of the Agile Coach:

The main risk associated with this position is hiring an inexperienced Agile coach, who, when doing the aforementioned, does not have a solid command of the two facets of “Coach” and “Agile”.

A role in charge of offering solutions and leading a change process, without the necessary experience or Agile training, can cause the opposite effect to that sought and generate more chaos or internal problems for the entity.

The most recommended thing for those who want to make changes is to train and mature their soft skills such as empathy, leadership, active listening, communication skills, oratory, and expression, without abandoning the hard skills that in this case are in-depth knowledge of Agile frameworks and the corresponding mindset.

Benefits of having an Agile Coach

Having an Agile coach in your company can help streamline all kinds of processes even more, including changes that are significant for the company. Encouraging a work team to join a new work methodology requires considerable effort and training.

If you have a person who is in charge of this role in the entity, you can be in constant processes and the person will have a greater sense of belonging to the company, making their decisions much more accurate and providing constant support to the team in periods difficult.
