Prevalence of Cheats, Hacks, and Wallhacks in Fortnite

Introduction
Fortnite is a Battle Royale based shooter game developed by Epic Games where 100 players are put against each other in a singular map and only one can come out victorious. Right upon it’s initial introduction to the gaming world in 2017, it was a huge hit! The biggest game of it’s time. This makes Fortnite a prime target for bad actors such as cheaters.

Case Study
There has been a growing community of cheaters in Fortnite who are using cheats and hacks to their advantage to win the game and acquire the victory royale everyone tediously is fighting for. In this case study, we explore how wallhacks, radars and cheats are rampant in the game along with the effects from it.

What does a Fortnite cheat consist of?

1. Aimbot allows for automated targeting of enemies, which cheaters use to kill their target quickly without any interference.
2. ESP (aka wallhack) gives the ability of seeing enemy players and all kinds of other objects through any surface, even walls! This is a super overpowered feature that cheats and cheaters alike are taking advantage of. When a cheater has this enabled, they can track you no matter what actions you take to evade.
3. No Spread (not to be confused with no bloom) makes it so your weapon crosshair has no deviation from where you are aiming to. This allows for absolute precision when shooting at anything, in-turn complimenting the aimbot that cheaters generally have enabled. A feature like this can generally be considered rage based and ultimately will lead a cheater to be banned.

How does this effect Fortnite players?

We are seeing unprecedented levels of cheaters in Fortnite who are attempting to gain an advantage over others via different tactics such as the ones outlined above. By using Fortnite cheats and/or hacks, they have been able to gain instant abilities and competency in-game that would usually take years for your average player. The wallhack being used is extremely strong and is only evolving, the issue is gaining major prevalence with drastic ramifications for the loyal Fortnite gamers who aren’t partaking in cheats.

Where are these cheats and hacks coming from?

As part of our investigation, we had been able to track down a prominent supplier of cheats. We do not condone the use of cheats nor hacks in anyway, but to outline the distribution and utilization aspect of this case study we must delve deep into the subject of cheat sales which includes going over the origins of these mischievous hacks. We collected surveys which had included close to ten thousand current or former cheaters and a stunning 62% of them had recognized a site called cheat.win to be their “provider” for these supposed cheats and hacks.

Conclusion

Cheating is never a good thing to do, especially in a highly competitive game such as Fortnite but it most definitely exists and is an on-going problem that subjectifies all Fortnite players alike. The use of Fortnite hacks and cheats is at an all time high and action must be taken.
