Brazilian or Bikini Wax? Which one should I get?

Brazilian or Bikini Wax? Which one should I get?

I usually get these questions.

“What is a Brazilian wax? Is it different with a bikini wax?”

To answer your question, Yes. Although Brazilian and bikini wax are very similar to each other. A bikini wax only removes the hair in your inner thighs and along your bikini line. A Brazilian wax removes all hair that you can see from the front to the back. Since women have different preferences, you can choose to have your hair shaped depending on your choice! Yes, you heard it right! You can have it shaped into a triangle, a strip or if you want to keep an interesting shape, a heart will do!

Do’s and Don’ts in Brazilian Waxing

Since I think I was able to convince you into getting a Brazilian wax instead of shaving, here are some things that you will need to remember if you are to have one.

Do’s:

  • Observe proper hygiene. Better keep it clean down there!
  • On the day of your appointment, wear comfortable and breathable clothes.
  • Exfoliate your skin gently before your appointment. It will make waxing easier. You should also exfoliate gently 2–3 days post-waxing or once your skin is healed to prevent ingrown hairs. Using a washcloth is as an exfoliator is recommended.
  • If you are nervous about the pain especially if it is your first time, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever to help with the pain. But as women say, that bearable and quick pain is all worth it once you see the results!
  • Use a cold compress to soothe pain after waxing.
  • Grow your hair out at least 1/4 inches long so the wax has a better grip on your hair. If it grows too long, you can trim it or your esthetician can do the trimming for you!

Don’ts:

  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine, they tighten your pores which makes waxing a bit more painful.
  • Do not tan 24 hours before your appointment and 24 hours after. Tanning causes your skin to be extra sensitive and we don’t want any type of skin damage or irritation.
  • Avoid touching your skin. Your skin is very raw and pores are open. You might unknowingly transfer germs and bacteria from your hands and nails to your skin and can cause pimples, bumps, and irritation. You should allow your skin to heal first.
  • Avoid sexual intercourse. It can cause micro-tears or damage to your newly waxed and sensitive skin. Allow at least 12–24 hours of no sexual intercourse for your skin to heal.
  • Avoid taking hot baths or saunas, since your pores are open at this time, steam or soaking in water can clog your pores and will result in pimples and bumps.
  • Avoid working out after your waxing appointment. Your sweat also causes clogged pores.

With a Brazilian wax, since it removes hair all over your private area and also directly from its root. It will allow your skin to be hair-free for a longer time compared to shaving and using hair removal creams. Plus, shaving and hair removal creams also damage your pubic skin! From razor cuts to burns, plus the irritating itchy feeling you get a few days after! If you want to maintain a smooth and baby-like skin down there for a longer time, then Brazilian waxing is perfect for you! Let me know what you think!
