How to configure the Access point for TP-Link Archer C5400X?

In Access point, your TP-Link router connects to a wired or wireless router via an Ethernet cable and extends the wireless coverage of your existing network. It is very important to know that advanced functions like NAT, Parental Controls and QoS are not working in this mode.

NOTE: Sometimes old firmware of your TP-Link may not support Access Point mode. If you don’t see this mode on your router, please update the firmware.

Steps for Archer C5400X to make it on Access Point.

  1. Connect the router’s Internet/WAN port to the existing network or modem using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Enter http://tplinkwifi.net, and log in with your TP-Link ID in the TP-Link App. You can set up the password for your TP-Link router.
  3. Go to Advanced > click on Operation Mode, check to mark the Access Point option and click Save. Log in to the router via http://tplinkwifi.net after the router reboots.

NOTE: After saving the settings for the Access point. The default IP address of TP-Link won’t allow you to access the router’s Page.

· You can configure the wireless settings. Go to Quick Setup or Settings > Wireless > Wireless Settings and set the wireless SSIDs and wireless passwords for the TP-Link network. Click Next/Save to finish the setting and reboot the router.

Choosing the best location for the TP-Link Router:

a. Antennas should be in the proper position for best location and direction

· Deploy the antenna of TP-Link in a good location and inclined angle. It should cover all of your wireless client devices.

· For multi-story buildings to coverage of wireless, we recommend placing antennas at 45 degrees (diagonally) or 0 degrees (straight out parallel) which will be more effective.

· Since antennas always transmit weakly at the base. So avoid placing your wireless client device at the bottom of the TP-Link wireless router or access point.

b. Try to avoid the extrinsic interference for Router

· Avoiding the physical interference in the wireless coverage, each wall or ceiling will put a negative impact on the wireless radio.

· Keep your router away from various electromagnetic noise sources that generate RF noise, like microwaves, Monitors, electric motors, copying and fax machines, etc.

Optimizing configuration of the device:

· For TP-Link wireless products, we recommend doing settings to avoid interference from other wireless networking and radio frequency equipment.

· First, please log into the TP-Link router. Go to Wireless->Wireless settings and change the channel number, the default value is Auto.

· As we recommend select 1, 6 or 11 in case you suffer high wireless interference.

· For 802.11b&g, there are 14 channels allowed in the 2.4 GHz range.

· Three non-overlapping channels recommended 1, 6 and 11 (1, 7 and 13 in part European region).

NOTE: Please check and verify your local regulations or laws. Sometimes the default channels will also be crowded and we recommend selecting the appropriate one adjusted to your local area.

Upgrade the TP-Link Router
