Welcome to Medium for iOS

An app for beautiful stories—wherever you are

Medium for iOS 1.0 is a simple app that lets you read and recommend Medium stories, wherever you go.

Every week, thousands of people come to Medium to write. They share their stories, their ideas, their dreams and visions. That’s the hard part. We’re just helping amplify their voices.

When we started working on this six months ago, we debated a lot about the purpose of the app. Was it just for reading? Should you write on it? If just for reading, what would be better about it than just using the mobile web?

Then we started prototyping. As usual, we found that the difference is in the details.

Details that allow us to make the app more beautiful, more intuitive, faster and more dynamic than the web allows. That make the images and stunning layout shine. Details that bypass any web limitations and allow the heart of Medium to step to the front: the stories.

When you sign into Medium for iOS with your Twitter or Facebook account, it fetches your personalized reading list, which is fueled by people you follow on Twitter or Facebook and collections you follow on Medium.

There are a lot of stories on Medium. Just like flipping through the channels, it can be hard to settle on one. But if someone you follow has recommended a story, you’ll see their face at the top of the screen. You can trust the people you know to help find the stories that matter to you.

Every story is presented in full-screen glory, and includes our estimated read time. But if you lose interest, there’s always another waiting back in your Reading List. Tap to recommend stories you think others should see, and quickly share them via Twitter, Facebook, or email.

I’ve been carrying around the beta version of Medium for iOS for the last couple months, and it has become not only my favorite way to experience Medium, but my reading app of choice wherever I am.

Download the app today, and enjoy the best of Medium.
