What is move-to-earn

Move to earn platforms reward players for their activities with crypto tokens and NFTs. Usually, tokens can be exchanged for other cryptocurrencies, in-game items or real-life goods.

These applications could be an excellent addition to regular life activities and provide additional passive income. But it is essential to be careful with them because usually, the demand for the token comes from new users and users that are willing to “donate” money. The only incentive to donate is to increase income from the game, but one day, more players could be ready to withdraw rather than donate, so NFTs’ and tokens’ prices may go down, and returns will decrease.

Move-to-earn is a reasonable continuation of the play-to-earn idea. But the difference is that while playing, users have no beneficial impact on their lives, but with move-to-earn, people are motivated to move and stay more healthy.

List of the projects

1. Stepn

My complete analysis of STEPN.

Project overview: — is a move-to-earn health and fitness application available on App Store and Google Play. Users equipped with sneaker NFTs can move outdoors to earn tokens and NFT rewards. STEPN has a built-in wallet, swap, marketplace, and rental system that allow non-crypto users to onboard STEPN.

Network: Solana.

Tokenomics: STEPN has $GMT (Green Metaverse Token) and $GST (Green Satoshi Token). $GST is a standard token for regular spending like repairing sneakers or levelling them up. $GMT is more specific — for special events. Players get $GST for walking, while $GMT could be received only on the 30th level of the sneakers, but to upgrade to the 30th level, they will need $GMT anyway on the 5, 10, 20, 29 and 30th levels.

$GST has no supply cap. $GMT has 6B tokens supply cap. 10% are in circulation.

The game's primary NFTs allow users to earn tokens. Two others can mint one sneaker using $GST and $GMT.

2. XYO

Project overview: — is a proof of origin network with an application COIN on the App Store and Google Play. The application allows people to earn in-game tokens and later change them for other cryptocurrencies and goods. It has no daily income limit, so it may exceptionally fit drivers for some additional income. Also, it does not require an initial investment to buy NFT or other access. Users may purchase $25 and $35 monthly subscriptions or a special card or Bluetooth tag to better track their position to increase income.

Network: Ethereum (ERC20).

Tokenomics: XYO has one token — $XYO and in-game non-on-chain currency “COIN”. Users get COIN by keeping the application open and proofing their location manually or automatically. They may change these tokens for cryptocurrencies like BTC, ETH and XYO. Also, they can change COIN for goods in real life like tablets, phones and more.

3. Genopets

Project overview: is a Free-to-Play NFT game that combines the nurture and evolution of Tamagotchi, the training and battling of Pokemon, and the crafting and collecting of Animal Crossing, while rewarding players with crypto as they grind through physical activity and mini-games.

It is in a closed beta test at the moment. The game will allow users to create a free NFT-Genopet, so there is no need to breed NFTs like other games to provide access for new users. So the entry barrier is lower because there is no initial investment to start playing. This may be better for onboarding new players and lead to a broader potential market.

With Genopet, users will be able to earn experience and tokens while walking and battling.

Network: Solana.

Tokenomics: Genopets has two tokens:

  1. $GENE: “A fungible governance and staking token representing ownership in the Genoverse. $GENE token holders vote on the future of gameplay as well as stake their $GENE tokens to earn rewards.”
  2. $KI: “A fungible in-game reward token earned by players who have purchased a Habitat. $KI is used to accelerate Genopet evolution, craft Habitats and other items, and battle.”

NFT-Genopets: player’s main character that could be generated for free or purchased on the marketplace and can be upgraded with the XP and Gene Crystals.

Gene Crystals: empowers Genopets and can be crafted from $GENE and $KI.

Habitats: an NFT-house for Genopet where he may live and evolve. They may be crafted from $GENE and $KI or purchased in the marketplace. Also, players may lease habitats to others.

4. Dotmoovs

Project overview: is a platform for creating sports challenges and competitions, where participants with NFT can make a stake and compete with others to win the prize pool. There are competitions for 1vs1, Teas vs Team or even tournaments. The winner takes it all except organisation fees. The winner is defined by the AI analysing of the participants' skills on the uploaded video.

The application is available on the App Store and Google Play. At the moment, competitions are open in freestyle football and dancing.

Network: Ethereum (ERC-20). Integrated with BSC.

Tokenomics: Dotmoovs has token $MOOV. Using it, players may deposit them as a stake in the challenge and stake on the platform to get NFTs. Also, winning challenges and competitions, the player may receive NFT-badges.

Collectable NFTs: NFT is needed to participate in a specific competition. For instance, to participate in a freestyle football competition, the user should have an NFT-ball. NFT could be purchased on the marketplace or rented from other players.

5. Step app

Registration link with my referral.

Project overview: is currently in a closed beta. It allows people with NFT-Sneaker to run and earn $KCAL (ingame token). Also, the platform allows users to make stakes and compete with each other for the prize pool except for the platform fee.

The platform is supposed to be a metaverse with players’ characters there. Users will be able to purchase skins for their characters and sneakers.

Network: Avalanche

Tokenomics: The game has three tokens:

$FAT: a token that is earned daily. To increase the income of this token, users should invite new users or connect the wallet.

$KCAL: a token that can be made by running or winning competitions while having sneakers.

$FITFI: a governance token used to vote about the distribution of the profit from the platform and to stake and earn a return. This token may be purchased on different exchanges or burning $KCAL and $FAT.

NFT-Sneakers: these NFTs are used to receive tokens upon running. They may be purchased from the marketplace or received from shoeboxes with a 35% probability. The user can receive shoeboxes by exchanging them for the lottery tickets that may be obtained daily from staking $FITFI.
