This Tesla article shows exactly where everyone else using “safety” driving to develop autonomous vehicles is going.

NOWHERE

LiDAR does not mitigate most safety driving issues. Tesla’s are having the accidents mostly because they have a much wider geofence than everyone else. At some point they all have to go where Tesla is and all of them are nowhere near the real complex scenarios, bad weather, traction issues etc they need to experience.

The answer is aerospace/DoD/FAA level simulation and systems/safety engineering for 99.9% of this.
