The thrill

Once more she had managed to escape, so narrowly this time, she had not even had time to be scared, or even conscious of the impossibility of her flight. Afterwards, she paused and caught her breath.

The air was bright and pure and sweet-smelling.

She felt the sun on her back, spread her wings, and took off in a zigzag pattern. She had earned herself another day; she was going to delight in every second.
