Have you heard about cold brew coffee and how it’s less bitter, less acidic with a smoother flavor? Wanna brew your own?

Lets do this.

You’ll need: A couple of Mason jars, coffee, water, paper coffee filter

Take 1 cup of ground coffee and pour it into a large Mason jar. Slowly pour 2 cups of cold, filtered water over the coffee grounds.

Wait 3-4 minutes. This allows the coffee grounds and water to get all cuddly with each other.

Next, add 2.5 more cups of cold, filtered water to your existing mixture.

Now place your nose at the top of the Mason jar and take a big wiffy-wiff. This part is a must if you want it to turn out right. Well, maybe not - but it’s smells great and it gets you stoked for the finished product.

Cover the Mason jar with a lid to keep unwanted slurp stealers out of your brew batch until it’s finished.

Place your newly combined coffee creation into the fridge and let it do its thang for at least 12 hours. Wanna get crazy, wanna get a darker, richer brew, go 24 hours.

12-24 hours later, it’s time to filter your cold brew coffee. You’ll need another Mason jar, and a lid rim and a disposable coffee filter. Place the coffee filter down in the empty mason jar and screw the lid rim over the excess filter top.

Now pour your cold brew coffee into the filter a little at a time and watch as it drips into the bottom of the jar. Once all of your coffee has been filtered it’s ready to be enjoyed.

I usually do 1 part coffee concentrate to 3 parts soy milk, cream, milk or almond milk with some ice cubes. Add sweetener to taste.

Point out anything in the process that I didn’t explain clearly. Let me know how your brew turns out. Feel free to tap me on the shoulder via twitter @bldwell.
