The Cryptopia NFT collectibles are almost ready for launch! But before we get there, we need your help during our community testing event!

On Saturday the 23rd of October at 10AM CEST we start our new and final testing event on the Rinkeby testnet. Our website now includes all the changes and upgrades we’ve made in the past weeks and the smart contracts have also been updated. And we need your help to test them!

To make the testing as fun and exciting as possible for the community, there are three NFT prizes reserved for the persons who:

- Mint the card with the highest score (based on the getTokenScore function);

- Mint the first legendary card;

- Mint the card with the lowest score (based on the getTokenScore function).

These persons will receive a free NFT once the mainnet minting starts!

The count of the Token IDs will be set to 0 before Saturday the 23rd of October at 10AM CEST. From that point on, everyone is free to mint as many NFTs on the Rinkeby testnet as they want until the 10,000 NFTs are minted.

After the Rinkeby test event is completed, we will start the countdown for mainnet minting on Monday, November 1 at 10AM CEST on cryptopia.com. The duration of the countdown isn’t known yet. It depends on any possible issues that arise and the momentum that we have on November 1.

The remainder of this post will explain how you can mint Cryptopia NFTs on rinkeby.cryptopia.com. In a nutshell, the steps to do this are:

  1. Setup a MetaMask wallet and connect it to the Rinkeby testnet
  2. Get Rinkeby test ether from a rinkeby faucet
  3. Visit rinkeby.cryptopia.com and mint NFTs
  4. Report issues or bugs with the website or smart contracts (optional)

How to mint Cryptopia NFTs on the Rinkeby testnet

Step 1: Setup a MetaMask wallet and connect it to the Rinkeby test network

To interact with our smart contracts, you need to install the MetaMask browser extension or download the MetaMask mobile app. In this post, we will explain how you can install the browser extension (if you prefer the mobile wallet, that is fine. Minting on rinkeby.cryptopia.com also works with the mobile wallet!). This can be installed on the Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Brave browsers. We will explain how to install it in the Chrome browser, but these steps can also be followed for other browsers.

Installing Metamask

Step 1. Go to the MetaMask website.

Step 2. Click ‘Download’ in the upper right corner.

Step 2. Click ‘Install MetaMask for Chrome’.

Step 3. Click ‘Add to Chrome’ in the upper right.

Step 4. Click ‘Add Extension’ and follow the steps to complete the installation.

You will know Metamask has been installed when you see the fox logo on the upper right hand corner of your Chrome browser; it should be in a similar location on other browsers.

The MetaMask logo

You might have to click on ‘extensions’ once and need to pin the MetaMask extension.

Setting up Metamask

Now that you’ve got the extension added to your browser, it’s time to head to MetaMask and create an account.

Step 1. Click on the extension icon in your Chrome browser.

Once MetaMask is open, you may be prompted to either ‘Create a Wallet’ or ‘Import wallet’.

The MetaMask wallet creation or import screen

Step 2. If this is the first time you are setting up a MetaMask account (or any other wallet), select ‘Create a Wallet’. If you have a wallet already, you can select ‘Import wallet’ and then you will be asked to input your 12 word seed phrase to link your account.

For the remainder of this guide, we will assume this is your first time using MetaMask and that you will use the ‘Create a Wallet’ option.

Step 3. Once you’ve opted to create a new account, you will have to accept the terms of use.

Step 4. You will be prompted to create a new password. Enter a secure password and click ‘Create’ to create your wallet.

Step 5. Click the ‘Reveal Secret Words’ button. You will see a 12 words seed phrase for your wallet. Write these down in a notebook or somewhere else where you will not misplace them. Store this somewhere safe. DO NOT store these online, as that can always be a potential security risk. Even though we are testing on the Rinkeby network, it is a best practice to store this 12 words seed phrase offline and in a secure location.

Make sure to store your secret backup phrase offline!

Step 6. After writing down your seed phrase, click ‘Next’. You will now need to verify your secret phrase by selecting the previously generated phrase in order.

Again, if you lose it, no one can help you recover the secret phrase, so it’s very important that you have it well-documented.

Using MetaMask

Now your MetaMask wallet is set up.

You can use your wallet to house your NFTs and other tokens, but the unique (and public) wallet address associated with your account also allows other users to send you different kinds of tokens directly to your wallet.

Your address is easy to identify. It is the 42 string character starting with ‘0x’. Both the mobile and desktop version have a button right next to the code that you can use to copy it to your clipboard.

You can find your Ethereum addres here

The final step. You are now in the Ethereum mainnet network. To make sure you can use it for our Rinkeby testing event, you have switch to the Rinkeby test network by clicking ‘Ethereum Mainnet’ in the wallet pop up screen, and selecting the Rinkeby test network.

Make sure to set your wallet to the Rinkeby test network!

Now your MetaMask wallet is setup correctly and good to go!

Step 2: Get Rinkeby test ether from a Rinkeby faucet

You now have your MetaMask wallet setup correctly. This means you are almost ready to start minting your NFTs on rinkeby.cryptopia.com! However, you don’t have any Rinkeby test ether yet. We will fix that by making use of a Rinkeby testnet faucet. Let’s do that!

Step 1. Create a tweet on your Twitter account that includes your Ethereum address. This tweet can contain any other information, as long as it contains your Ethereum address.

A bit of enthusiasm never hurt nobody!

Step 2. Copy the link to your tweet that contains your Ethereum address.

Step 3. Go to https://faucet.rinkeby.io/.

Step 4. Paste the link to your tweet in the input field and select one of the ‘Give me Ether’ options.

You should now receive your Rinkeby test ether on your Ethereum address. All for free! 😉

Unfortunately, we do have to mention that the Rinkeby faucet has been having some trouble lately. If this happens to you, it helps to just keep trying every now and then. Since we also run into this problem from time to time, we are unfortunately not able to provide everyone with test ether. We will try to help out as many people as possible, but our test ether is not unlimited. So best to get some yourself!

For now, we’ll assume that everything went fine!

Step 3: Visit rinkeby.cryptopia.com and mint NFTs

Ok, so you have your MetaMask wallet ready with some Rinkeby test ether in it. Cool! That means that you are ready to start minting some unique Cryptopia testnet NFTs!

Step 1. Go to rinkeby.cryptopia.com.

Step 2. Go to the mint section either by clicking on ‘Mint’ on the homescreen or navigation bar, or by scrolling down the page.

Step 3. When you arrive at the mint section, select the amount of NFTs that you want to mint and click the ‘Mint’ button.

Step 4. Click ‘Use MetaMask’.

Step 5. You will be prompted to connect with MetaMask. Do this by clicking the ‘Next’ button and subsequently the ‘Connect’ button.

Your MetaMask should now be connected to rinkeby.cryptopia.com.

You might need to refresh the page and return to the mint section.

Step 6. Similar to step 3, select the amount of NFTs that you want to mint and click the ‘Mint’ button.

Step 7. You are now prompted to confirm the transaction. Do this by clicking the ‘Confirm’ button.

Congratulations! Your transaction is now mined and your NFTs are now being minted!

You are free to repeat steps 6 and 7 as many times as you wish and as the Rinkeby faucet allows! Let’s mint those 10,000 test NFTs!

Step 4: Report issues or bugs with the website or smart contracts

If any issues or bugs appear during your minting experience, we are very happy to receive feedback about it! If you find anything, please let us know through https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf5Qyf8IH-w7UoEuIHtgHAQcVjH_wkLHty5xCHgYnO_WZ3HzA/viewform.

Please note to always take a screenshot of the console (press F12) and attach it as an attachment if applicable.

Happy minting!

We hope you will all have fun minting as many test NFTs as you like and we hope to interact with you in our Discord channel at discord.io/cryptopia. There you can meet fellow Cryptopians, discuss your plans for Cryptopia and maybe even find a clue that helps you to solve the mystery to our 3 NFT specials!
