Personal vs Shared Knowledge

What is personal knowledge and shared knowledge?
What do I know vs what do we know?
Personal knowledge: real life examples
- I know that I am a sensitive person and I have quite a hard time conveying my emotions orally and through writing.
- I know that I am hard working and will work arduously to achieve my life goals, as, through my experiences in 16 years, hard work really does pay off.
- I tend to try to look for answers to my life questions and often get caught lost in my thoughts; those also tend to intimidate me.
Shared knowledge can transcend cultures and generations, whereas personal knowledge involves personal views on the world acquired through one’s individual experiences, for example.
Shared knowledge: real life examples
- We know that the Belgian colonization of Rwanda triggered the Rwandan Genocide and shaped their economy for decades.
- We know that Ceteris Paribus means “all things being equal” and can be applied not only to Economics.
- Hydrogen is the lightest element on the periodic table, containing the smallest number of protons of any element.
