Annecy — The Venice of the Alps

This Sunday I was finally able to visit Annecy, a beautiful mountain town right by a lake. Some people call it the Venice of the alps and I must agree. The canals running through the old town are reminiscent of this Italian town.

We walked around the old town, rifled through the Sunday markets and ate some classic alpine comfort food: tartiflette, fondue and raclette. Then we rented paddle boats and went out on the lake. It was a surreal experience; the water was shallow and clear and the mountains were beautiful. I definitely need to come back to visit Annecy again!
