Education as a sharing economy
Exploring the possibilities of a multi-faceted education network.
By Charlotte Kng
Throughout history, education has mostly been single-faceted. Guardians pay for tuition, learners attend school, teachers impart knowledge; everyone has one job, and they do it well enough for the system to function.
However, the result of technological evolution over the years offered us an all-encompassing key to infinite opportunities. With this key, the world has been reset to an almost complete level-playing-field. This key is the internet. Anyone with access to the internet will be playing by the same set of rules, given the same access to information and offered equal privileges with almost no discrimination. Information asymmetry is now a thing of the past.
This multi-dimensional world is a fundamental element in creating Õpet, the world’s first interactive learning platform powered by artificial intelligence. While its best-known feature is granting users the privilege of having a 24/7 tutor by their side through an intelligent chatbot, you will be surprised to find out that Õpet is not limited to just this one alluring feature; there are many more in store for you.
As pointed out earlier in the passage, teachers were the traditional sources of knowledge flow. The world was formed under this system and still is; the top-down approach remains to be the primary method of learning. However, Õpet understands the importance of a sharing economy and how teachers are not the only knowledge banks around. As such, a network incentive was rolled out on the platform where users can get rewarded for various contributions they make to the network. For instance, Opet Tokens would be offered as rewards to users who provides his/her revision notes or relevant content, as long as the user is one year fresh from graduation, complete with a national exam certification. The token rewards in turn serves as incentives for the users to continue purchasing educational content on the platform, hence encouraging lifelong learning.
New ways of validating accreditations
With academic information and extra-curricular records safely recorded on the Õpet Hyperledger, college admission offices can easily tap on this information to help them make more informed decisions when it comes to selecting admission candidates. Transacting parties may purchase Opet Tokens from the existing supply in circulation to gain access into the Õpet blockchain and safely transact from there. The feature creates a total disintermediation and disaggregation of higher education placement and admission processes, allowing academic validation and micro-accreditation can take place in a more efficient manner.
Enabling cross-border direct donations
Gone will be the days of insecure and cloudy donation channels. The Õpet platform encompasses a unique feature that helps connect donors and their beneficiaries in the swiftest and most transparent arrangement possible. By leveraging on the Hyperledger as a channel for transactions, Õpet donors will be able to send Opet Tokens directly to the Õpet accounts of their beneficiaries without having to worry about intermediaries and corruption. Furthermore, donors will also have full access to the academic track records and usage levels of their beneficiaries; what’s not to love?
In a nutshell
As the world matures and molds into a multi-faceted dynamic space, education should follow on too. Emerging technologies like the blockchain will be a powerful tool in unlocking the infinite possibilities that come with a shared education economy, bringing on a new era.
