Day 5: Shinjuku, Tokyo
We should have acted like we’d never heard of Lost in Translation, let alone seen it:
“Wow, it’s busy in here. Are all these people really staying at the Park Hyatt?”
“They can’t be. Why are they all taking selfies? And what’s that thing they’re doing with their whisky tumblers, holding them up to their faces like that?”
“No idea. It’s weird…”
“This is the last thing I need. Can’t sleep, and I’m supposed to be at work in the morning.”
“And I just popped in here for a quiet drink and some light jazz.”
“— sorry? What film? Lost in something? These are the chairs they sat in?”
“Who? Oh, the guy from Charlie’s Angels? And her from Ghost World? Sounds good — we’ll check it out.”
“Damn tourists.”
“Still, this whisky’s real good. It’s going some way to filling this existential hole at the centre of my privileged soul.”
“Let’s get another. Waiter — it’s Suntory time!”
