【多益必考文法】動名詞要怎麼用？remember 是接 to V 還是 Ving？一篇就搞懂！

一、動名詞是什麼？功能又是什麼？
動名詞（Ving）就是動詞變成的名詞。動名詞可以當作：
- 主詞：
Singing is a lot of fun.
Teaching those naughty children is painful.Ving 當主詞，就是表示「一件事」，要視為單數喔！
Teaching naughty children and teaching hardworking children are two different experiences.但是如果有 2 個 Ving 當主詞的話，就表示 2 件事嘛，所以動詞就是複數型！
- 放在動詞之後，也表示某件事：
The man finally admitted stealing George’s money.
Peter is fond of singing.
My hobby is reading.其實動名詞的用法和名詞幾乎相同，只要記得這一點，就不用特別背誦了喔！
二、這些動詞當受詞時，只能用 Ving 形式
這些動詞不能接不定詞（to V），只能接動名詞（Ving）喔！
例句如下：
- I advise redoing the work. 我建議這工作重做一遍。
- The little bot dreads talking to his father. 這個小男孩害怕跟他父親說話。
- You should practice speaking English all the time. 你該時不時就練習說英文。
三、這些 Vt 的受詞可以是 Ving 或 to V，但是意思不一樣
有些及物動詞（Vt）後面可以接動名詞和不定詞，可是意思有些不同喔！
- mean Ving 意思是……
- mean to V 有意要……（＝intend to V）
Your participation means wasting time.
你參加了，意思就是浪費時間。I meant to help Mary, but she turned me down.
我有意要幫助瑪麗，但是她拒絕了。
- regret Ving 後悔曾……
- regret to V 抱歉要……
I regret writing the letter.
我後悔之前寫了這封信。We regret to tell you that you didn’t meet our expectations.
我們很抱歉要告訴您，您沒有達到我們的期望。
- remember Ving 記得曾經……
- remember to V 記得要……
I remember calling you yesterday.
我記得昨天有打電話給你。I’ll remember to call you again tomorrow.
我會記得明天再打電話給你。
- forget Ving 忘了曾……
- forget to V 忘了要……
I forgot meeting that girl before.
我忘了我之前見過那個女孩。Don’t forget to call me tomorrow.
別忘了明天要打電話給我。
發現了嗎？只要後面接 Ving 的時候，意思就是「曾經做過某事」、「已經做過某事」，可是如果接 to V 的話，表示「還沒做某事」、「將要做某事」喔！
四、還有哪些 Ving 慣用語呢？
以下介紹幾個常見的動名詞慣用語！
- There is no Ving 誰都無法…… ＝No one can V
There is no denying that China has made a lot of progress during the past 10 years.No one can deny that China has made a lot of progress during the past 10 years.不可否認過去十年來，中國進步的幅度很大。
- It is no use Ving 做……是無用的
It is no use asking me about this issue because I know nothing about it.
問我這個問題沒用，因為我完全不懂。- have trouble / difficulty / problems / a hard time (in) Ving 從事……很困難
John is stubborn, so most people have trouble reasoning with him.
約翰很固執，所以大部分的人很難跟他講理。- have fun / a good time / a great time / a wonderful time (in) Ving 從事……很愉快
I had a good time hiking with my family last week.
上星期我和家人健行很愉快。- be busy Ving 忙著從事……＝be busy with N
Don’t bother David. He is busy doing his work.／He is busy with his work.
別打擾大衛，他正忙著他的工作。- feel like Ving 想要……＝would like to V
I feel like going to the movies tonight. Would you like to join me?我今晚想去看電影，你想跟我一起去嗎？多益文法小測驗 — — 動名詞篇

reason (n.) 原因 (v.) 說服；講道理Ans: (B) (A) (C) (A) (B)
解題重點：
- consider 後方要接 Ving 或是 (to be) N。不能接不定詞 to V 喔！
- mean Ving 意即／等於……。
- 在 that 子句中，dealing with those inquisitive students（與那些好問的學生來往）是動名詞片語，當成主詞，所以空格內要填單數 be 動詞，也就是 is。
- mind 後面應該要接 Ving，所以只剩下 (A)、(B) 可選，但是 let、allow 文法不同：let sb V 讓某人、allow sb to V 允許某人。這題空格後面有受詞 the manager 和原型動詞 know，所以要選 (A) letting。如果題目的 know 改成 knowing 的話，就要選 (B) allowing 了。
- 前面有提到的固定結構：It is no use Ving ……是無用的。
