【海軍確診】用新聞英文做寫作錯誤分析｜語言習得
Error Analysis: Interlingual and Intralingual Errors
幾天前爆出海軍敦睦艦隊染疫，一天新增了 21 例確診，讓海軍疫情相關報導的搜尋量暴增。這些新聞中不斷看到「有 21 人確診」、「有 21 人檢測結果呈陽性」這樣的句子，今天用學生的寫作錯誤和海軍確診的新聞，來分享一下我在創勝文教英語師資培訓上禮拜學的東西。
學生的寫作錯誤

There were 21 people were confirmed to have COVID-19 yesterday. (昨天有 21人確診)[Error #2]
There have been 21 sailors are tested positive for the coronavirus. (目前有 21 位士兵檢測結果呈現陽性)

[Taiwan News]
... 21 individuals on Taiwan’s navy vessels were confirmed to have COVID-19.[Taipei Times]
... 21 navy officers and sailors had tested positive for COIVD-19.
英語母語人士並不會用 there is / are 的句子描述海軍染疫的新聞，導致我們句子美國人一看就知道是「外國人」寫的。
在其他學生的句子中也不難發現類似的錯誤：

這些錯誤不單是學生主詞-動詞的文法沒學好，可能也不是關係代名詞 (that, who, which) 沒學好。語言學家 Robert Lado 說，學習者的錯誤可能是受到學習者母語的影響，或是這個外語本身的複雜性所造成的錯誤，甚至是兩者同時造成。
錯誤分析 1｜Interlingual Errors
應用語言學教授 Pit Corder 將學生上面 “There is / are…” 的錯誤歸類為 “Interlingual Error”，也就是語言學習者受到自己母語的影響所犯的錯誤，像是母語的規則、使用習慣、和外語的差異。在中文裡我們習慣用「有⋯」這樣的句子結構做開頭，導致學英文的台灣人常常用出 “There is / are…” 這種中式英文的句子。
錯誤分析 2｜Intralingual Errors
相反的，另一類的錯誤 “Intralingual Error” 則是指這個外語本身的複雜性導致學生犯的錯誤，反而跟母語無關。換句話說，不管是學英文的台灣人、日本人、西班牙人、法國人、俄羅斯人，都會有的錯誤。（剛開始學英文的學生，以為過去式就是動詞加上 -ed，寫出 “He comed yesterday.” 這樣錯誤的句子。）
為什麼要做錯誤分析 (Error Analysis)？
Pit Corder 教授在 1967 年發表的 “The significance of learners’ errors” 中強調了語言學習者犯的錯誤的重要性，因為這些錯誤透露學生嘗試理解、推論語言規則的過程。老師可以從這些錯誤中看出學生目前對於這個語言的掌握。作為英文老師，我們需要多收集、整理、分析學生的英文錯誤、理解錯誤背後可能的原因，才能幫助學生有效突破學習瓶頸、讓英文持續有感進步。
Errors can be taken as red flags; they provide windows onto a system — that is, evidence of the state of a learner’s knowledge of the L2. (Corder, 1967)
