Forget Palau Blaugrana, NBA Café Barcelona is the real home of basketball lovers across the city. Whether you love the NBA, NCAA, EuroLeague, etc. this is the spot for you.
As soon as we walk in off Las Ramblas, we are hit with the neon lights leading us up the staircase and into the American-style sports bar and restaurant. David greets us warmly at the door by bouncing over a basketball to fully immerse us in this basketball-lovers’ heaven.
There is a Fan Zone to the left calling my name, with cool memorabilia and video game stations. To the right, an octagonal bar with enormous tv screens makes me question whether we are still in Barcelona or have somehow teleported to the US.
We’re here to meet Brand Manager Galdric Serra, who takes us upstairs (yes, three floors on Las Ramblas!) to one of the group rooms which guests can rent out. On the way, we peek outside to the spacious terrace and imagine it would be an amazing place to eat out during the warmer months.
Galdric recommends we come back on a Sunday, as their NBA Sunday is like a party for basketball fans. In the evening, they can show a live game so the restaurant is packed. NBA Café even has a cheerleader show so they try to make the experience as close as possible to attending a real NBA game, even though it might be several thousand miles away.
So, definitely worth checking out, but as it’s so popular on Sundays it’s a good idea to make a reservation a couple of days in advance.
NBA Café Barcelona also has an amazing American menu to enjoy while watching the game. Try some onion rings, nachos or a stack of ribs for something a little different. Don’t even get me started on the desserts, my mouth is watering!
Ultimately, we highly recommend NBA Café Barcelona. Although it’s obviously an oasis for basketball fans, you don’t have to be a fan of basketball to make the trip. Families or locals looking to have a unique experience will be pleasantly surprised.
