In this article we are going to walk you through how to bridge your funds from Layer 1 (Ethereum Mainnet) over to the Arbitrum Layer 2 network.

To begin, you need to have Metamask set up and some ETH in your wallet. If you don’t know how to do that, watch this video.

Step 1: Bridge

First you will have to move your ETH from the mainnet. There are several ways to do this:

Official Arbitrum Bridge

Official Arbitrum Bridge

This option is an easy and fast way to move from Layer 1 to Layer 2 but is not advisable for the way back because it takes 7 days.

You simply connect your wallet, enter the amount of ETH you want to send to Arbitrum and click on “Deposit”.

Watch this video for a tutorial.

Alternative Bridges

Here are some other options in case the main bridge is down or if you want to bridge back from Arbitrum to the Ethereum Mainnet.

  1. Hop Exchange
    Rumoured airdrop, very low fees
  2. Synapse
Also reliable, more options for alternate chains but slightly higher fees
  3. Connext
Reputable, good range of chain options

Note: you can also withdraw ETH to the Arbitrum network from Centralized Exchanges such as OKX, Binance, FTX, or Gate.

Step 2: Add Arbitrum Network to Metamask

If you used the official Arbitrum Bridge, you simply need to click on the “Add L2 Network” on the top right:

Add L2 Network

Alternatively you can go to Sushiswap, connect your wallet, click on the Ethereum logo on the top right…

and then click on the Arbitrum network.

You will be prompted by MetaMask to add the network:

Note: sometimes MetaMask cannot match the network details to the chain ID correctly, even if they are accurate. Sushi’s RPC details are correct, but if you wish to verify you can go to Chainlist.

After that you will be prompted to switch the network. You can change back and forth anytime by clicking on the network name at the top of MetaMask

Step 3: Buy some $MAGIC

Now the fun part. You just go to an exchange and swap your ETH for MAGIC.

Go to Sushi and connect your wallet. Make sure that you are on the Arbitrum network.

Then you will select MAGIC in the second box, enter the amount of ETH you wish to sell, and click on “Swap”. Make sure you leave some ETH for gas fees!

Approve the transaction in your MetaMask and you’re good to go!

Other exchanges:

Decentralized Exchanges (DEX’s)
Make sure you are on the Arbitrum network

  1. Slingshot
Rumoured to have an airdrop, good fills

Centralized Exchanges (CEX’s)

  1. OKX
The only official exchange supporting MAGIC as of yet
