1. The Journey

It's been months since our last introductory post about the novel Joint Protocol. We have been heads down, building and talking to users to understand the problem better and provide a lasting solution in our protocol.

We are excited to announce that the Joint protocol is now undergoing internal testing and is being prepared for broader public testing (the much-anticipated testnet).

We recently shared our first product demo here.

2. The Point System

As we draw closer to launching our public testnets, We are thrilled to announce the commencement of a new phase of our points program.

In previous phases, community members earned XPs converted to Energon, a non-transferrable point token required to mint DroidPD NFTs. Many community members minted DroidPD NFTs, and others held on to their Energons.

We are pleased to announce that Energon and DroidPD holders will soon be able to convert their tokens to Joint points and have the opportunity to earn more through their participation in the new phase.

3. How To Earn Points

Joint Points will be earned in several ways:

3.1. Testnet Activities

The testnet is the ultimate arena where most Joint points will be earned. Community members can try all functionalities and expect to receive points for successfully completing specific actions. Testnet users help the Joint Protocol team assess the protocol's performance and user experience, which will inform improvements where necessary.

Our testing program will be structured in two phases:

  • Private Testnet: This private testnet is designed to test specific functionalities with specific protocol participants closely. It will involve a limited number of participants handpicked by the Joint team. This version will run for a few short weeks. Registration will open soon.
  • Trialnet: This permissionless version will run on the mainnet with limited capabilities enabled. The trialnet is designed to test the Joint protocol and its interactive capabilities in a real environment. Unlike the private testnet, it is permission-less — anyone can join.

Both test programs will be launched in Q1 of 2024.

3.2. Galxe Points

We have opened a Galxe space with new and fun tasks designed to educate and grow our community as we prepare for our testnet launch. We will periodically start short-term sprints that earn the participants Points. At the end of a sprint, we will import points earned into our soon-to-be-released leaderboard.

3.3. DroidPD Ownership

DroidPD NFT is an integral part of the Joint story. We tell our stories through the fictional world of the Droids — our official mascot. Each holder of a Droid can claim Joint points for every Droid they own. As a Droid owner, you will be added to the Joint Point Leaderboard at an initial rank determined by the amount of Energon held in your Droid. You rank higher with a Droid with 10,000 Energon than one with 5,000 Energon. The more Droids you own, the more you rank up.

3.4. By Energon Ownership

Based on DroidPD lore, Energon are like batteries for Droids. Hundreds of community members own Energon from participating in the first and second phases and used some of it to mint Droids. We will be allowing holders to burn the rest for Joint Points. The amount of Energon you own will determine your initial rank on the Joint Point Leaderboard.

4. Conclusion

Joint points transcend simple numerical values; they embody your active involvement and dedication within the Joint protocol project. These points serve as a tangible measure of your engagement and contribution, reflecting the extent of your participation in the protocol's ecosystem.
