This year, 2024, I’ve got a homebrew master plan: 14 recipes aligned to 14 special events throughout the year. It may not reach the same heights as the “99 Brews in 99 Weeks,” but 2024 is a special year with plenty of special events, from Euros to the Olympics and beyond, and I’ve got something special brewing for each one. This is what I have in store.

The Master Plan

The Master Plan

January: The Double IPA Birthday Bash

I’m kicking off the year with a bang, celebrating my birthday with a Double IPA. It’s a brew close to my heart and sets the tone for the months ahead.

February: A Sweet Treat for Valentine’s Day

In February, love is in the air, so I’m planning something special: a Strawberry and Chocolate Mead for Valentine’s Day. It’s a romantic twist on a classic recipe.

March: Cheers to St. Patrick’s Day with an Irish Stout

For St. Patrick’s Day in March, I’m brewing up an Irish Stout. Rich, roasty, and full of character, it’s the perfect way to celebrate the Emerald Isle.

April: Turbo Charged for St. George’s Day

Get ready to rev your engines with a Turbo Charged Strawberry and Lime Cider perfect for St. George’s Day. This is a turbo cider base with fresh fruit flavours that should be fruity, refreshing, and perfect for springtime.

May: Star Wars Day Planet Pale Ale

In May, I’m tapping into the force with a Planet Pale Ale. The details are still in the works, but I’m channelling my inner Jedi for this one.

June: Diving into the Euros with a German Dunkel Lager

With the Euros happening in Germany, I’m diving into the festivities with a German Dunkel Lager. It’s a nod to tradition and the perfect accompaniment to football fever.

July: Olympic Dreams with a French Pilsner

As the world converges for the Olympics in France, I’m raising a glass with a French Pilsner. Crisp, clean, and refreshing, it’s a celebration in every sip.

August: Belgian Bliss for International Beer Day

International Beer Day calls for something special, so I’m brewing up a Belgian White. Inspired by Blue Moon, technically an American recipe I think, it’s a light fruity orange beverage.

September: Relaxation Time with a Hazy IPA

As summer fades into Autumn, September calls for relaxation with a Hazy IPA. It’s one of my favourites, and I’m diving headfirst into the haze craze.

October: A Double Delight for Oktoberfest and Halloween

October brings a double dose of excitement. First, a German Märzen to honour Oktoberfest, followed by a challenging Pumpkin Beer for Halloween. It’s a month of diverse flavours and plenty of brewing challenges.

November: Warm Up with an English Ale

As the nights grow colder, Bonfire Night arrives and calls out for a winter warmer. It’s a Winter Warmer that soothes the soul and warms the heart.

December: Spreading Holiday Cheer with Turbo Cider and Mulled Wine

As the year draws to a close, I’m revisiting two holiday favourites: a Christmas Spiced Turbo Cider and a tweaked Mulled Wine recipe. It’s all about spreading holiday cheer and ending the year on a high note.

Join the Homebrewing Adventure

I’ll be documenting each of my brews on my YouTube channel, and sharing the recipes and lessons learned here on Medium.

Wish me luck and raise a glass to homebrewing fun. Whether you’re a seasoned brewer or a curious novice, there’s something for everyone in my master plan for 2024. Wishing you a happy home brewing, cheers, and best of luck on your brewing endeavours!
