Asking This Simple Question Will Make You Understand Your Hidden Motives

Do you want to become more confident? Have you already asked yourself why you want to become more confident?
Now, I don’t think these questions are necessarily wrong, but I think a better question has to be asked to make you truly understand why you want to become more confident (or anything else). It’s as simple as follows:
What problems, thus far, have I experienced due to a lack of confidence?
Maybe you want to be more expressive, but your lack of confidence held you back? Or maybe you have experienced problems in terms of relationships and love?
In my case, the answer to these questions were a “Yes”. Not only that, I slowly began to find out that I didn’t truly want to become more confident. No, I wanted to feel accepted by others.
Hence, being more expressive so that I could make others feel more comfortable. Or I wanted confidence so that I could satisfy the people I love more.
The focus wasn’t on me, it was on them.
