This Will Make You Understand What “Reflection” Means

…Or at least expand your definition of it

I t was a really simple yet thought-provoking way of defining “reflection” that I read on the internet.

The article, which I can’t find anymore, didn’t really reflect further on their definition of reflection.

They just noted it down and moved on with the subject about metacognition. Perhaps it was a that simple definition.

Enough talking, this is their definition that I can recall:

Reflection means: Bringing experience and theory together.

Really that simple yet thought-provoking (at least for me).

So go ahead and recall an experience you had. Now, reflect on it by consciously trying to bring theory into that experience i.e. the main principles, rules, mental models, etc.

What do you think of this definition?
