So, you have a new startup or product idea to launch. Now it just needs a name. Here’s how to find a good one without wasting time:

  1. Start with available URLs. Even strange names can look cool when they have a .com domain. It’s like Monopoly: the estate you build on makes all the difference.
  2. Use tools like Bustaname to find URLs. Compare loads of nonsense options (Seitlab? Noitar?) and pick one that sounds good and is easy to spell.
  3. Register the .com domain for cheap and then use the resources you’ve saved on designing a nice logo and visual profile.

To name something fast requires that you let go of some vanity. It helps you move on and focus on more important things, such as actually building and selling the thing you’ve named. With some skills and luck, you’ll be able to fill the new name with meaning over time.
