Are we humans or are we robots?

Late last week, Jack Ma’s defence for the 996 Work Culture came to light and cause a huge ruckus in the online world. For those who aren’t sure about 996 Work Culture, it basically means to work 9 AM to 9 PM in a 6 days work week.

That’s 12 hours a day for 6 days, totalling up to 72 hours a week.

Let’s break these numbers down. We have 24 hours a day. If 12 hours are spent working, 2 hours commuting and 6 hours sleeping, you’re left with 4 hours to do whatever you’d like.

Seems doable because 4 hours is a lot of time. You can watch 3 Game of Thrones episode with that time.

What happens to those who have a longer commute time? Well, sucks to be them because they’ll have less than 4 hours to enjoy life.

What does a 996 lifestyle (possibly) look like?

You’ll have to leave home at 7 AM because the morning traffic is insane. You won’t get to spend time with your kids as they get ready for school.
