Positivity Day #4

Practice Something

I have been practicing Iyengar Yoga for the past 5 years. The practice focuses its attention on alignment & the details of each pose and posture in an effort to seek proper alignment. I am driven by the precise nature & the reduced pace of the class due to injuries I suffered during my high school football and wrestling days.

One important element of Iyengar Yoga that I have not had much success w/is the development of a home practice. I find it extremely difficult to “find the time” to practice at home. There is always something else I could be doing, and I have trouble quieting my mind, going inward & dedicating time for myself by myself.

This morning I set aside 30 minutes & did a self guided practice. My mind wandered, I had difficulty focusing on the poses, & my shavasana (resting pose) was not as restful as it in normally is in a teacher lead class. Even though it was not my best practice, it was practice and has lead to an overall positive outlook for the day.

Moving foward I intend to spend more time practicing Yoga on my own in an effort to improve my techniques for physical and mental self healing.

Unlike my good friend Alan Iverson, I believe in the practice of practice.

Practice Something.
