It will get better, but…

It was a summer of 2008. I was sailing for 18 days. From Greece to Croatia and lots of islands in between. I had the best summer.

And it was the last summer and year I was truly offline. The last vacation I was truly disconnected from the office. It was just before social media really began and we weren’t addicted to those online friends, their lives and brands. Jobs were also more stable, you could plan ahead at least for that year.

And then…

The world has gone crazy in the last decade. Constantly connected, weekends used to be for fun, now they’re extended work week, during holidays and vacations we check our phones… We travel for pictures, not for fun, not for enlightenment. We meet people for selfies, not to learn from them.

In the world constantly connected, we forgot to connect with ourselves and our loved ones. We are connected with our machines, but not with our humanity.

In a world, constantly connected, we disconnected and lost our humanity.

Will it get better? Sure. But before it gets better, well, you know how it goes before it gets better.
