Leaving a city behind

He was living a vibrant city lifestyle in his twenties and thirties. After all, his work, love and friends were there, he knew everything about the city and his people. He felt at home. But this home felt more and more empty to him. As they grew older, his peers stopped living, all they did was chase the money and riches, forgetting about their true nature, laughter and values.

On the day of first snow he decided to leave. He packed small rucksack and left without goodbye. He knew that someday he would going to return, perhaps even a wiser man.

Experiences in the city gave him a lot to think about as he was driving to a mountain cabin. He reassured himself that he had to make a distance between a life of hectic running and a life of perhaps more deep thoughts and living more deliberately. He hoped for a nice winter, not too harsh, since it was his first here.

He settled in and started a fire in his fireplace. He closed his eyes and thought about his city.

It’s a draft of something, maybe… and a day 56 of my 100 Days of Writing Challenge.
