Rest is not entirely dependent on sleep, but is more a state of being in the mind and body. Sleep is just what most people use to achieve this state, through stillness and taking the mind away from busyness.
Does this mean you or I should not sleep? No, in sleep the body heals and regenerates. What it does mean is finding how to allow the body and mind, even if it is just half an hour, to still and focus. I am not talking about emptying the mind as in meditation—that is not healthy—but in focusing.
