We could see mount Rishiri rise up from the sea while entering Rishiri harbour on the ferry from Wakkanai. We reached during sunset and enjoyed a beautiful ride along the coast on our way to the place we would rest our heads for the night. The weather was brilliant on hiking day, and the volcanic Rishiri was an absolute joy. I opted for a bit of an adventure on my way down and headed for the dotted line on the map. I Walked in all kind of plants shoulder deep, butterfly mumming in my ears, all alone on a tiny shoulder. Grand adventure.
