Day 36: 101 Words or how generic it felt (going back in time)

Probably lots of people know about 101 Words.

It’s really easy if you, Reader, don’t know about it. =)

The whole point of it is probably to get ppl out there with a short “thing” written by them. And it’s not THAT awful =) lol

You gotta write a short “story”, 101 words short and then you just submit it and wait for the editor to contact you, maybe with some constructive criticism or telling you that your story is too disjointed and you should try to re-write it. (LOVE constructive criticism)

The most “disgusting” thing in a way is that it doesn’t feel like I did anything. Ok, it is a story. Kinda. I guess. Maybe. But for real… it’s like the easiest writing experiment ever.

Still it gets ppl and stories published, it’s out there to tell us smth.

Smth so effortful and difficile turned into smth fast and pretty easy, that’s what it’s telling ME in particular

I mean, don’t you think that anyone, really ANYone can find smth 101 words long to share with the world?

Sure, not everybody will do it but it’s THAT easy now to be at least a bit of a writer.

A lot of ppl have blogs, but there we write lots of things and if one wants to be a blogger, no way you can get away with just 101 words in a lifetime.

But on 101 WORDS you can be a star without putting much effort.

On one hand I find it liberating and astonishingly good idea, on the other hand, it makes real writers’ “job” seem easy and non-important.

There are always lots of new stories, new angles and new ppl who just had nothing better to do and decided to try being a “writer”, aka 101 words writer.

But that’s not what a writer makes

or is it?

Who the hell knows.
