103. Can doing nothing be productive?

Yes — here’s how.
We live in an age where if you’re not hustling, trying to 1-UP your opposition and constantly be ahead of the curve, you’re failing. We feel good, because achieving these small tasks gives us a hit of endorphins. That’s right, we can literally get addicted to busy-work.
Productivity on the other hand is doing the big things and doing them well. It’s also doing the things that further the body of knowledge in an area. This often requires creativity to be unleashed. It also needs plenty of space and time.
Time constraints and rigid structures do not fit in well with productivity. Yes, you’ll be good at time management, but you won’t have your best ideas. The solution?
Schedule “nothing” time. Close off communications, get out a blank notepad and a pen and leave it there. Doodle. Free write. Or just sit and let the ideas flow through you.
You’ll be surprised how much better your mind works after this.
