11. Brew Your Own Coffee
This might not for everyone. It’s for me.
I’m not talking about those three-in-one instant coffee powder where you need just to mix the boiling hot water from your 2L water kettle and give it a quick stir.
No. I’m talking about brewing your own coffee like this.
It’s an amazing ritual — to grind your own beans with a Hario hand grinder; to make some calculation based on the brewing ratio before you start brewing; to pour the 93 degrees Celsius hot water delicately onto the coffee ground.
Watch it blooms. Watch it drips. Watch it brews.
The most satisfying part? Smelling the aroma from a fresh cup of coffee you just brewed for yourself, sipping the coffee at different temperature and experience the changes in its sweetness, acidity, and flavors.
Again, it’s not for everyone. Start by picking some really awesome beans (maybe from Blue Bottle or Stumptown). Oh yea, no milk, and no sugar, please.
