163. How to instantly feel alive again

Take a dip in the ocean.
Or have a cold shower. Your body maintains a delicate balance to keep you comfortable. With comfort, we atrophy.
We know that to grow, we have to be uncomfortable. Putting ourselves out of our comfort zone wakes our mind and body up to the reality of life — that it’s more than a fancy title, a mortgage and golden handcuffs.
It’s about answering your calling, you know, the one that’s been echoing in your mind since you were a kid.
You’ve put it off and put it off over and over saying that you’ll do it “tomorrow”. We all know what happens after that.
There was a study done once to see if mindfulness in one aspect of life could decrease other undesirable behaviors.
Couples with a history of violence were brought in. The more violent member of the couple was told to use their non dominant hand to open doors.
Compared to a control group, this actually resulted in them being less aggressive towards their other halves. Why?
Because having to consciously think about something that was usually unconscious forced them to also open their eyes to other parts of their life that might have become unconscious — like aggression towards their spouse.
Consciously make a decision to take a cold shower and see how much more aware you are of your calling.
