Yesterday, while disembarking from the plane journey from Kigali to Dar I noticed a woman in front of me who had a beautiful blue passport.

I’ve never seen one before and it really caught my eye.

Not only the colour caught my eye, I also noticed that the lady with the passport pretty much breezed through immigration. They hardly batted an eyelid at her.

It turns out that it’s a United Nations Laissez-Passer — a travel document provided to United Nations staff. It generally allows them easier entry into a country without the need for a visa (even if they are entering for work).

Seems like a pretty handy document to have, if you can get one.

Quick note on my title today, technically it’s not a passport but a travel document.
