17. Birthdays
At what point, did I start paying more attention to my kids’ birthdays than my own? For the last few years, you could ask me my age and I’d need to do a mental calculation- I simply don’t ever remember. I’m unsure if it’s that I don’t think the # actually matters or if it’s that I just don’t find it too important to recall. And it’s not that I don’t love celebrating my birthday each year- I really do. Maybe it’s that the big milestone birthdays are less and less frequent. 18/21/25/30 — maybe 35? But these 39 somethings- just not doing it.
So as I blow out my candles for another year — Happy 37th to me! Let’s see how long I remember the 37.
