25. #People
#People call us out. And that’s amazingly beautiful.

Shine Lighters are a rare and special breed of #people.
Nicks
I reconnected with a guy tonight.
An awesome guy. An artist from a very dear corner of my past. A sarcasm artist, that is. Delicious to the very least. One who’s always made me laugh. A genuine, honest and authentic guy, calling life out chord by chord. Gosh, how I missed that… They don’t make ’em like that, anymore.
He was playing a guitar last I saw him, 8 years ago. I think you need a certain artistry to carefully put rough sarcasm and soft music together like that.
So, tonight, after some years, we Facebook-ed…
And I remembered… what it was like to be — purely joyful.
I told him I had always felt free to be myself with him. It was true, but less important. I continued with “I had always felt free to enjoy life when you were around”.
Which surprised me, too. Most probably, I’ve noticed this especially because it contrasted #Allow.
The obvious realization here was that there’s an utmost difference between being comfortable with someone and being yourself with them.
I’ve been comfortable with #people.
I once wrote a 37 paged list with all the shit I’ve done and gave it to someone. I later regretted, but that’s not the point. Another time, I spent an entire night or two reciting those 37 pages to someone else. None of these confessions actually helped. I was looking for something neither of these #people could’ve or should’ve given me. Always seek within — what the heck do you preach, Deli?
Jules
I met Julia online, a week ago. I like calling her Jules, though.
A Goddess, herself. One who inhales air and breathes out love and… grace, I’d dare to say. A kind soul. A creative spirit who feeds on the beauty of the world around her.
She writes, too. She’s a poet.
She writes a poem, I write a story. As if… my creativity is somehow wired to hers and her becoming flips a switch in me. As if… I feel freely inspired to create when she’s “around”.
The obvious realization here is that there’s an utmost difference between someone allowing you to create and creating thanks to them. Creating is, eventually, a journey of becoming — indifferent of its muse.
I’ve created with #people before. A school’s magazine issue, once, in elementary school. A few induction and trainers’ conferences in college. But few #people inspired me to become someone I ultimately enjoyed and loved being.
I always loved and deeply respected #people who reminded me of who I was. Or who I wanted to be. #People who called me out.
I always loved how we called each other out.
I always loved how we’re simply supposed to connect. How we meet with the most precise scope, but the utter redundancy to know it.
This world needs #people who call us out. Who inspire us to become those versions we knew were in, but didn’t quite believe we could bring out. We need muses because we’re, ultimately, social. And that’s amazingly great.
Let’s access and manifest whatever previous muses have surfaced in us — on our own. Let’s do that instead of resisting our-real-selves.
Let’s call #people out ourselves. As often as we can. And as often as they allow us to.
I have fallen, I have stood up, I’ve had the patience of a tree
You have trembled, you have stayed still, you have tumbled like a weed. — Vonda Shepard
Trees need no patience unless we count severe winters and burning summers. Weeds don’t tumble unless for winds. And we don’t blossom unless for others to call us out.
Such a beautiful process. Such a beautiful becoming.
Shine Lighters play the music our spirits dance to. They honor us. They go beyond, deep into who we are and simply honor us.
They whisper that we rise. And we listen. Our souls listen and resonate. And we rise like a one man army. These #people call us out.
Those us we buried long ago. The hidden. The forgotten us.
These #people shine light on the “much more” in “You’re much more than that”. So, when you meet one, invite them in, love them and create. Let them inspire you. There’s a reason why you met.
There’s always a reason why we meet… #people.
Thanks tons, for reading this!
