25. Surrender
Your ego at the door
Recently I have been mulling over this word ‘Surrender’. A word that I have always associated with defeat. But a voice in my head has been telling me there’s more to this word. So bear with me as I give my thoughts some form.
You are on your knees, in a pool of sweat and your shoulders are heavy with expectation. You surrender. You drop your shoulders and stand up again. You’ve done and will do continue to do the best you can. But for now, you are surrendering your expectation.
Surrendering does not mean giving up. It is about giving up your ego. And your attachment. It is about trusting in the unknown than the known. Sometimes what you know might be limited. It is about accepting that.
It is about giving up conflict for peace and a future pathway to bloom.
I now see the value in daily prayer. Even in the way we pray. Folding our hands. Prostrating on the floor. Bowing down. In complete surrender.
