You take me #places, I take you #places.

Thanks tons, Omar Prestwich on Unsplash, for this inspiring pic.

Listening to a friend’s music, I found myself saying “I love where this takes me”. I said it quite often over these past two weeks. About Armin’s Symphony of You, as well. And some other trance pieces, though, I’m definitely not a fan of the genre.

Anyhow…

I do think that music has a way of resonating within us. I once wrote about some inconclusive research proving the connection between music, sound waves and heartbeats. Yes, I do realize how funny that sounds.

I also think that music takes us #places. #Places within, that sometimes, we didn’t even know were there. #Places where we find strength or hope or even joy. As if there’s another self you can seek from.

It’s funny how we — and this time, I mean “I”— always think we need to be taken away to other #places. More beautiful #places. More intense contexts. Kinder connections. More essential truths. How otherwise, we’re not impressed.

As if… reality — the pure and simple “now” — doesn’t satisfy us anymore! Too small, too fleeting and ephemeral. It doesn’t excite us into life and passionate living. Won’t raise to our higher standards.

Oh, such fools we are — and this time, I mean “I”, as well — to see it so. It’s us not raising to life’s standards. Not the other way around. We’re falling short. We’re wanting. We’re lacking on how and how much we’re loving; on being kind; on giving thanks. I think it’s us who need to look within instead of investigating life and throwing stones.

Contexts and people and happenings do take us #places. Whether we like it or not. And whether we like the #places or not. After 30 years of non-filtering and going ALL #places, I now see a necessity to choose; to sift.

Not because of the unworthiness of some #places. But for the creative potential of others.

I used to be afraid to favor one thing over another. For a long time I couldn’t even decide on a favorite season. It’s winter, no worries. Yes, because of Santa and the presents. Happy, now?! :)

But that’s where Beauty lays — in choosing contexts; choosing #places. Options shape us as Craftsmen, Skilled Creators and Architects of a life worth living.

Thanks tons, for reading this!
