I read parts of Don Miguel Ruiz’s book The Four Agreements on a regular basis. This morning I read about the 3rd agreement: Don’t Make Assumptions.

This is about courage to use your voice, asking questions, and communicating without misunderstanding or drama.

I’ve got a work situation where someone is well intended, but not yet skilled in some therapeutic modalities they are trying to use with clients.

Many of those clients are expressing to me What the hell is going on? I suggest they ask the therapist to explain the purpose and plan for the work they have been asked to do.

Try not to Assume you cannot do it

Try not to assume the therapist does not know what she’s doing.

Try to communicate clearly and ask for what you need.

These are concepts I continue to try and apply to my life. Sometimes failing, yet always growing.

It’s frequently a struggle, yet one worth pursuing!
