294. I don’t watch TV anymore
I pretty much stopped watching TV 10 years ago when I moved to Malaysia.
At the time the house that I moved into only had local TV stations and I was working late most nights anyway.
Eventually we installed satellite but only to watch the football on the weekends. That was the only thing that was ever on our TV. In fact for the first few years the satellite box was kept in my housemate’s room as he was the one paying for it. Though he was kind enough to bring it out to the living on the weekend so that I could watch the football games being broadcast.
Instead of watching TV I used to watch some DVDs or Youtube. After a few years in KL I ended up spending most of my evenings out at the gym, playing football or with friends so I didn’t really have the time to watch anything.
It’s only after I moved to Dar es Salam for a year in January 2016 that I started watching shows again. And even that was via Netflix on my laptop rather than watching TV.
And that brings me to now. My wife and I have a TV in our house and we’ve used it to watch Netflix for a couple of months, but since our twins have arrived we haven’t even turned the TV on. I have just watched Youtube
And I don’t miss TV at all. There are obviously some great shows but I hate that you have to follow the schedule of the TV station. I much prefer being able to consume shows at my convenience, be it at 3am in the morning between feeds or any other time.
