30. #Rain
When the #rain washes you clean, you’ll know.
It’s raining. As I’m writing to you, it’s 3.21 a.m. and pouring. Thank goodness, for it’s been too darn hot and dry these past weeks. We needed this #rain and the after smell. Oh, the freshness of a new start.
I also love the sound of #rain hitting ground. As if… as if it were the most firm of all full stops at the end of a paragraph. More firm — end of chapter. Chapter, after chapter, after chapter. Quick.
I’ve always had a sweet spot for the #rain. Ever since I experienced my first #rain on a sunny day.
You, see? At school, when your spongy-young and you still believe everything they say without questioning it, they tell you that #rain’s only for the cloudy, grey days. All the pictures and drawings in your text books are of #rain on a gloomy day. Think London and Dublin, they tell you. They don’t actually tell you that. I say that. As a funny stereotype.
So, imagine my awe when I first experienced #rain in the sun. I was ecstatic.
I think that #rain was when I first started to question anything. Scratch that — it was when I started to question everything.
Now, there’s a reason why this is post #30, specifically.
First time I ever did a 1 month challenge was during my first therapy attempt. The challenge back then was to go visit something, for a month (30 days) and write about it. Or anything that came to mind.
I only did it for 20-something days. Almost 30. Indifferent of sun or #rain. And I tend to believe that quitting when I was so close got me so deeply imprinted that I didn’t do tons of stuff for more than a month.
Remember how I only lasted 27 days into my first #100NakedWords attempt? Coincidence? I think not. :)
Well, today… Today is day 30. I broke the pattern. Consciously. And it deserved a post of its own. Let the #rain come, for…
When the #rain washes you clean of all loops and assumptions, you’ll know.
Thanks tons for reading this,
~ D.
