300. I got called girly by my wife last night

We were watching Grey’s Anatomy.

And had gone back to Season 1. Charlotte said, “oh yeah, Bailey’s more of a man and George is more feminine.”

She was saying how Bailey — the 5th year resident — was commanding, overbearing and how she was masculine because of that. With George — a 1st year intern — he was unsure of himself, defending his views and always being made fun of.

It’s funny how “stronger” qualities are seen as masculine while “weaker” qualities are more feminine.

I can see why Charlotte would see me as being feminine. I don’t drink, never smoked once in my life and would eschew a night out with mates to being at home with her — to watch Grey’s Anatomy.

I thought that’s what makes me a good husband, but apparently not all the time.

I think the biggest thing for either “masculine” and “feminine” qualities is how sure of yourself you are.

So even if I’m sure that I want to forgo the typical loud-mouth, overbearing qualities typically associated with the male stereotype for the more quiet, introspective qualities that may be linked to being female, as long as I’m comfortable with it that’s all that matters.

The moment you try and change who you are, that’s when you seem weak. Gender is irrespective.
