38. #Hero
What makes you a #hero, after all?

I love a good #hero.
Even told a friend of mine a few days ago that she’s my #hero. For her fearlessness. Most of the times.
Before the weekend, another friend pointed out that what makes one a #hero is their ability to go through hardship. Think war heroes. Survivors, not necessarily winners. The ones who fought for a cause and lived to tell the horror.
Today… There’s this beautiful event I’m lucky and blessed enough to volunteer in for the second time. It’s for some kids. Few of them look at me as if I were a #hero. Most probably because I’m older. But also because I speak two languages. Which, let’s be honest, is nothing these days. Because I’m from another world. Because I listen and pay attention to them. Shortly. Too shortly. Because… I’m all they’re not. But they could be. If only they’d believe in the #hero within…
A #hero’s stereotype is The Savior. That’s what heroes do — they save people, situations, contexts. Anything they can. They click their heels three times — some of them — and turn into whatever the moment asks of them.
I can’t even remember when was the last time or if there was a time I saved the day. When I played #hero. Nope. Nothing pops up. But I can sense how each day I put it upon myself to do that.
What makes a #hero, after all?
Thanks tons for reading this,
~ D.
