When I was younger, probably around in my teens, my philosophy was that I’d rather be famous than rich.

My rationale was that as a famous person I’d be able to influence more people to do good due to my fame, than I could as a rich person.

Now that I’m older I think I’d rather be rich than famous. You can still do a lot of good using your wealth and you don’t get your life invaded in the same way that famous people do (I’ve come to be more appreciative of the privacy I have in my life). I’m also yet to see any real change come about from a famous person supporting good deeds so I’m no longer convinced it’s a strong enough platform to persuade people to make positive changes for the world.

Do you agree? Are your reasons for choosing one over the other different to mine?
