392. 5 or 4 day work week?

I’ve always said that when I have employees I will strive to make Friday a half working day; meaning that the end of the workday would be 1pm.

Eventually I’d like to have a 4-day work week for my team, although this obviously depends on what type of business it is.

I just feel that a 4-day work week is the most conducive to a person’s well being. A 2 day weekend is too short, even that extra half day makes a big difference.

The challenge would be getting people to be productive enough during the 4.5/4 days to make up for the lost half ay/day. However I think that if you hire the right people they will be just as productive over the shorter period as many people would be over the full 5 days.

I guess I have some selfish reasons for wanting to do it too. Simply I want a 3 day weekend and I couldn’t do it without offering the same opportunity to my team. But overall I think everybody would benefit from such a policy.

Now I just need to grow my business to the stage where I need to start hiring.
