I like to think that I’m not sexist. But today I said something that has made me think otherwise.

I was talking about babies to a female friend of mine and I described a baby boy who “screams like a girl” when they’re crying. Immediately I realised what I’d said and called myself out on it.

It wasn’t conscious. I think that it’s one of those sayings that are so ingrained in certain cultures that we say it without thinking. It’s another example of how society influences our thinking without us even realising it.

I try to be very mindful of things like this but this one slipped through the net. It’s something I need to be more aware of when I’m speaking, especially around the twins.
