429. A simple, healthy breakfast
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Yet for many years I would either skip breakfast or eat junk such as strawberry cheesecake. This was largely due to the fact that I normally wake up later than I should.
During my recent year in Tanzania I was able to develop a decent morning routine that included eating porridge oats for breakfast. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to continue since I came back to KL because making and eating porridge oats takes time.
I actually really enjoy eating cereal. It’s quick, easy and no fuss. I often eat it as a snack. The challenge is finding a cereal that’s also healthy.
I tried granola cereals but they are very expensive here and they still contain a lot of sugar so are far from ideal.
Now I’ve moved to a store brand version of Weetabix and I’m loving it. Most people dislike them because they are so plain and give people the feeling of eating cardboard. I on the other hand love the simplicity of them. I only add milk, no sugar, jam or honey.
As a bonus the store brand version is cheaper than any other cereal I’ve come across. Now the only problem is that I’m enjoying them so much I’m eating them faster than I should.
