Faking Grace
The worst kind of gracious behavior is the fake kind — it’s a plastic mask with a smile molded with mockery. It’s the kind where the face beneath is blind to it’s own true state, where it’s oblivious to the discord of softly singing ‘kill them with kindness’. Many people who simply follow the steps and go through the motions of taking the higher road don’t even notice how their thoughts are sagging down deep into the concrete road, weighing them down and keeping them on a delusional pedestal. There’s often the choice made to act like a good person and shy away from conflict than actually be a real person, or to hold space over actually dealing with feelings. With as much graciousness as possible, that is bullshit.
