72. Dreams…

There was once a sailor who set out to journey life’s vast oceans. He had hopes of diving for pearls, in crystal waters, while watching the moon set in the gentle midnight breeze. He dreamed of napping soundly with his vessel ,like a hammock, bobbing on the rippling surface of the ocean; gently rocking him to sleep — in his dreams.
Then he met the ocean in its crashing fury; throwing him up to life’s highs and letting him down to ocean depths. His stomach churned and his heart ran. His mind reeled while his body… his body soaked to the bone. And so he wearied himself; making circles, trying to secure the sails, trying to hold fort.
Then he had a voice: “center and be still.” He walked to the middle of the boat and sat down. He held the oars and looked straight ahead — into the wave that rolled towards him. He felt the urge to stand and battle those towering waters but the voice in a fading tone commanded: “stay still.”
There was a hush as the wave sank into stillness. The waters lapped the boat carrying it forward — propelling him deeper — into ocean peace and oyster abundance.
